Kisumu Governor, Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o, has said he will not contribute any money towards the burial of Nyeri Governor, Wahome Gakuru, who died in a road accident early this week.

According to sources, Council of Governors Chairman, Josphat Nanok, ordered all Governors to contribute Sh 100,000 each towards the preparation of the burial which will be held on November 18th.

But Nyong’o said that Counties are operating under very minimal revenue and cannot afford to use tax payers’ money for burial arrangements.

He said that every Governor is entitled personal insurance cover and that cover should work in the situation.

Nyong’o said he will not contribute even a shilling to the burial because Gakuru’s entire costs have been catered for by the Government.

However, he said personal well wishers are welcome for contribution.
